Top 10 tips for Oracle database performance
Limited Capacity seats available

The Oracle RDBMS is highly tuneable with many options for optimising performance. However, the sheer quantity of tuning options can be overwhelming, and you can waste precious time unless you know which tuning activities are most likely to provide a return on your time investment. In this presentation we’ll review ten of the fundamental Oracle performance tuning practices and see how to use these in a systematic way to improve Oracle performance. Topics will include workload and SQL optimisation, identification and elimination of key contention points, configuring memory to avoid physical IO, and disk IO optimisation.

Case Study: Measuring, Analyzing & Tuning the Performance of ADF Applications
Limited Capacity seats available

In this session, a customer case will be discussed and demonstrated about how you can monitor the performance and resource related behaviour of an ADF application by instrumentation. Instrumenting the application gives visibility of and insight in what is happening inside the application. What ADF, SOA, Java and database transactions are executed, when and how often? What is the health of your system? What is the type/severity of errors? Are there memory or network blockages? What is the end-user experience? This end-to-end visibility and insight is very effective in identifying and resolving performance and health problems quickly. Several customer scenarios will be discussed. Learn how you can make instrumentation an integral part of your ADF development process.
Lessons learned on development and architecture decisions will also be shared!

Reading the execution plan – deep dive into SGA memory
Limited Capacity seats available

Usually, the tools Oracle gives us to read execution plan of a query show us all the details we need. But sometime, they hide some details. This session looks at the internal representation of the execution plan in the SGA to access such details - and at the same time it shows that developing a new execution plan parser would be a non-trivial task to do.
